The Request

The clients website was built on a WordPress theme, Septimus which hadn’t been updated since April 2016. The client wanted to preserve the look and feel of the website but update the framework for security purposes.

The Final

To achieve what the customer was requesting I ended up using the BeTheme framework. I picked BeTheme so the customer could keep the website constantly up to date well providing an easy editor to make changes.

The final product had the following changes:

  • Rebuilt all pages in BeTheme editor.
  • Cleaned out old Shutterstock assets in the media library
  • Changed the site URL from atlanticdirectors.com/newsite to the root
  • Enabled HTTPS for increased security and visibility
  • Updated WordPress to 4.9.8 (newest)
  • Removed TinyMCE Advanced (deprecated and a security risk)
  • Updated server to use PHP 7.2 (most stable, 5.6 was deprecated)
  • Installed JetPack to monitor site visits and downtime

The website was finished in August of 2018.
